Healthy cooking tips
Cooking more in the kitchen is easy if you have some patience, time, and the right ingredients. I understand that everyone is in a rush these days although we should never rush eating. We should honor the food we eat and understand that real food takes time to harvest and so does a dish.
Learning to love the kitchen is at the heart of cooking a great meal. By planning a better approach to eating you can satisfy that hunger in the right time to not feel rushed.
I encourage you to cook more. I hope this blog encourages you to do the same.
Start with awareness of hunger
Sometimes when you are beyond hungry and you start opening every cabinet in the kitchen, remember to stay patient with yourself to not overindulge in the wrong foods. Often times we are pushed into these situations where we have packaged foods handy for convenience, but what you can do instead is limit those packages and aim for a fruit or vegetable to snack on.
So be patient, and don't overeat processed foods.
Planning your meals are helpful but not realistic for most. I find that if I keep a handful of common ingredients that I can use them to make a meal more easily when I am in a time crunch.
Some basic vegetable staples that everyone needs in their pantry and refrigerator are: potatoes, onions, carrots, celery, noodles, and some type of wheat.
Time Management
Now this one may come easy but time management to cook is no easy task between commuting, job responsibilities, laundry, or just plain relaxing. Chopping takes time. Boiling takes minutes. Even deciding what you want to eat is a time grabber. I see why some of those popular food meal planners are so in the rage.
Pick Wholesome Foods
Choosing to eat a diet of rich unprocessed fruits and vegetables can bring more gratification in your life. Chopping a zucchini, biting into an apple, or baking your own bread all bring you closer to nature. Once a gardener planted the seeds that gave fruit and you get to enjoy it. If you have ever tried to grow vegetables of your own you have more respect for the time it takes to bare fruit and give thanks for the bounty.
Remember to not give up
Many times we resist change, especially when it comes to food. Like for example, a childhood cereal that brings up good vibes when you taste it or ice cream to celebrate a birthday. Food can be an emotional decision. Saying no is much harder to do than saying yes when you are surrounded by others who are eating the same way,. Making small changes to your diet is doable and stay ahead of your cravings. By helping yourself you can reap the benefits later in your health.
Sugar is in more products than you think
Looking at labels and finding your favorite foods are loaded with sugars is devastating. Sugar is the cause of over eating, illnesses, excess weight, and behavioral problems, it really isn't a necessary food to eat.
So to sum it up your health is worth taking more time to invest in better foods, be more organized about meal planning and choosing to eat closer to nature.
